I am so happy to say that today (6/27/11) is the BIG day! I went into my doctor appointment and was immediately sent down to triage because of my blood pressure. I was thinking it would be just like the other two times and a complete waste of 3 hours! Boy was I wrong! I was hooked up to the machines about 10:30 and they asked me soon after if I was feeling the contractions. Uh...no! I just thought they were braxton hicks! So, they do an ultrasound to see how big Reese is and check the amniotic fluid levels. Fluid levels are great and Reese measured around 7 lbs 1 oz. They check me again and they think I've gone from a 3 to a 3 1/2. So they have the doctor on call come and check and he decides we will be admitted and meet Reese today because guess what...I'm in labor! ha! Once I get to a 4 the contractions are pretty painful and about every 2 minutes. I called Jeremy and he headed up to the hospital. Thankfully they made it just in time for us to be moved to a real room. Once there it didn't take long to get an epidural. HOWEVER, they were out off the epidural drip bags and had to "rig something up". More on that later. They also broke my water right after getting the epidural which was nice. With Ryne they broke my water first and man that hurt!! It was nice of them to let me get good and numb first!
My first labor and delivery nurse was awesome! She reminded us of Emma Watson and was just so nice and informative. Unfortunately she left at 7pm, but the next nurse was great too! We had made Ryne a bag with new toys to keep her busy. Guess how long that lasted! Some friends offered to pick her up for a few hours. So we asked Ryne and she did not hesitate at all about wanting them to come get her! They showed up a few minutes later and took Ryne to burn off some energy. It is really a good thing they did because contractions were coming hard and fast and were very painful! Once the initial shot wore off I could feel every contraction on my right side. So Dr. Chase pulled it out some and and redid it. We gave it 20 more minutes, but it still wasn't taking on one side. So he gave me a shot through my epidural and that did it! My leg actually fell off the bed and Jeremy had to push it back on! lol! It started worrying me some because I couldn't move my toes or legs, and they felt so so weird! Dr. Chase came back by and we asked him if that was okay and he said yes because he had given me the same epidural he gives c-section patients! He said he could cut my stomach open right then and I wouldn't feel anything. Whatever works! :) The next few hours were spent trying not to throw up because my bp dropped super low with the epidural. My aunt Kitty came by with Halli and visited for awhile. Then about 8:00pm Luke brought Ryne back up to the hospital. Again, great timing because right after he walked out the door they made everyone walk out while they checked me and what do you know...I was a 10 and it was time to push. Of course my mom and Jeremy's mom and step-dad hadn't made it to the hospital yet. Thankfully Kitty was there and watched Ryne while Jeremy stayed in the room with me. It was pretty funny during delivery because Ryne kept knocking on the door! lol! The nurse would just go poke her head out and tell Ryne not yet. :) My mom made it there just in time to hear Reese cry! At 8:43pm we were saying hello to our sweet Reese! The delivery was great because of that FABULOUS epidural! Reese looked just like Ryne at first, but it didn't take long for her to just look like Reese! Absolutely gorgeous!!

Tired, but so happy! |
All in all in was a great experience. Much better than Ryne's delivery! It was a little worrisome being at the hospital alone for so long, but we knew Ryne wouldn't do well in the triage area. I didn't mention that I picked the busiest time to have a baby! All the beds in triage were full and it took awhile for them to clean a room to put me in when it was time for me to make the move to labor and delivery. There were 18 babies born while we were there...crazy!
Reese - you are absolutely gorgeous! You are loved so much by your mommy, daddy and big sis. We are so glad you are here!
